About the Training Course
Knowing the Drawing was an eight-day Erasmus+ training course for youth educators, hosted by Fundacja Leonarda in Tleń, Poland, between 16th and 25th of January 2026. Participants from Poland, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Hungary came together to explore graphic facilitation – using drawing, colour, and visual structure live, during a workshop or discussion, to support communication, creativity, and the learning process. As the training put it: you don’t need to “draw well” to use graphic facilitation – all it takes is willingness, a few simple tools, and the courage to give it a try.
WOLF, as a partner in the project, gave the opportunity to 3 participants from Bulgaria to join this adventure.
The Toolkit
One of the most valuable outcomes of the training course is the Knowing the Drawing Toolkit – a practical guide built directly from everything explored during the eight days, so youth workers who couldn’t attend can still bring these methods straight into their own sessions.
The toolkit walks through 15 chapters, from the fundamentals of visual thinking and lettering, to drawing faces, emotions, and characters, building a personal visual vocabulary, composition and visual note-taking, infographics and data visualization, mind maps, visual metaphors and storytelling, graphic recording, and even energizers and icebreaker activities to bring into a group.
It closes with a case study of the participants’ own final projects – ranging from mind maps and educational posters to comics and narrative sketches – plus a practical checklist to help any educator get started with graphic facilitation for the first time.
